Challenge
Given a completely clean slate, create a warm, calm and restful “entry level corridor” – offices and community spaces – for formerly unhoused Veterans.
Solution
Through ongoing interface with managers, architects and contractors and using the principles of Trauma-Informed Design, OSD selected furniture, colors and artwork that were soft, yet engaging.
Result
A pleasant atmosphere with alternative features: multiple seating areas and vistas both real and imagined – including a “window” into Mt. Diablo and a historic map of the Bay Area overlaid with butterflies.
